Kishori Express: Kishori Express is an anaemia control programme for adolescent girls implemented across 528 villages of Chendipada, Banarpal & Angul blocks in Angul district through two customized vehicle equipped with a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen, trained staff, sanitary napkins, haemometer, hand-washing kits, Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. It aims at improving the health of adolescent girls (would-be mothers) through regular haemoglobin check-up, awareness creation, as well as nutrition supplementation. Since inception total coverage under the project is 142779 adolescent girls.
Vatsalya: (Maternal & Child Health care programme): Project vatsalya is a holistic programme addressing the issues of maternal & child health care. With an objective to improve maternal & child health, the project is being implemented in three States; Tamnar & Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, Jereldaburu in Jharkhand and Tensa in Odisha, covering total 61 villages. The project has impacted the lives of 150000 mother & children.
Sneha / Chiranjeevi: The project was primarily conceptualised to address the issue of malnutrition among the children of age group 0- 6 years at Angul, Odisha and Tamnar, Chhattisgarh with an objective to reduce the Child mortality rate caused due to malnutrition, to improve the BMI of children of age group 0-6 years and to generate sanitation practices among children. The program has the provision of regular food supply to the children, regular health check -up and medical intervention for the children with severe cases.
At other locations like Barbil and Angul the project also covers the children of age group 0-18 years at Adruta Children Home an orphanage managed by Rawa Academy. Since inception the programme has covered 7000 children.
HIV and AIDS Awareness Program: JSPL Foundation in collaboration with State AIDS Control Society in Odisha, Chhattisgarh & Jharkhand, through Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) & Utkal Sewak Samaj (NGO), and following the ELM (Employer Led Model), have reached out to 175000 truckers/migrant labourers and employees. To bring about behaviour change, awareness generation activities like inter personal communication, street plays, skits are conducted.
Drinking Water & Sanitation: To ensure clean and safe drinking water at the household level for the local community living in the vicinity of JSPL's Business locations, the JSPL Foundation has undertaken multidimensional efforts in partnership with the local community, Panchayati Raj Institutions and district administrations across all the locations i.e, Angul, Barbil, Tensa at Odisha, Raigarh & Tamnar at Chhattisgarh and Patratu & Jereldaburu at Jharkhand and providing potable water to more than 1800000 people.
To ensure availability of water at the door steps, overhead tanks were constructed, water pipe line along with tap were fixed, boring and hand pumps were installed along with submersible pumps and water ATM was installed providing RO water to the villagers. During acute summer and stress period water is also supplied through water tankers. At Angul, two water tankers move around the villages of JSPL's operational area/ certain critical locations, and provide chilled drinking water to people.
Telemedicine Centres: Telemedicine centre are technologically enabled digital dispensaries set up with an aim to provide primary health care solutions, vital tests, medicines from a single point to the people living in the near- by villages. In the village hospital, CHC/PHC, due to lack of infrastructure and low availability of doctors villagers need to carry the patients to the nearby city but through these centres JSPL Foundation has set up 7 such centres across all its business location covering 168 villages. Through the centre JSPL Foundation is being able to penetrate deep into the rural areas and is successfully solving the problem of accessibility and affordability of primary health care. Till now it has catered more than 200000 villagers.
OP Jindal Hospital & Research Centre: OP Jindal Hospital and Research Centre, a super speciality hospital, located in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh is a 70 bedded state-of-art tertiary care hospital, established with an aim of providing a depth of expertise in the complete spectrum of advance medical and surgical care equipped with high end facilities. The hospital is dedicated to provide competitive, accessible and affordable world class healthcare services to poor and weaker sections of the society and the community in and around Raigarh.
Voluntary Community Teachers: Voluntary Community teacher Program was conceptualized to minimise the gap of Pupil - Teacher ratio in vernacular medium Government schools, with an aim to provide quality education to the children in the periphery villages, reduce the Pupil Teacher ratio (PTR) and meet Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) requirement of 30:1 Pupil Teacher ratio (PTR).
The Voluntary Community Teachers are provided by JSPL Foundation at the request of District Administration. This initiative has substantially reduced the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR), which is now 26:1. More than 170 Community teachers are engaged delivering quality education to more than 50000 children from 132 schools.
Scholarship: To ensure that no deserving student in the vicinity of our operations should miss the opportunity to pursue higher education due to lack of financial means, JSPL Foundation provides O.P. Jindal Star for students studying at Higher Secondary classes (class XI - XII students) and OP Jindal Jewel Scholarship for students pursuing technical education to high-performing rural students from weaker financial backgrounds. These scholarships are intended to motivate students from these communities to pursue further studies. Till now the scholarship program has supported more than 10000 students in continuing their education and achieving their dreams.
Skill Education: OP Jindal Community Colleges is committed to impart skill training to the students in trades having high market demand and making them employable. JSPL has established five community colleges, located in Punjipathra, Chhattisgarh; Uchringa and Godda, Jharkhand; and Angul and Barbil, Odisha. These community colleges have been accepting learners aged 18-45 and follow the principles of inclusive education. Since inception it has contributed more than 100000 trainees to the National Skill Pool.
Asha the Hope: a rehabilitation & Vocational Training Centre at Raigarh is a social initiative of JSPL Foundation. It is a centre based as well as out- reach programme instrumental in bringing significant improvement in the quality of lives of the people with disabilities (especially of Special Children). The services, provided to the especially abled persons, include early intervention through education, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and fitment of assistive & adaptive devices and skill training for specially abled persons to lead an independent life. More than 5111 patients have been covered through different services at Asha the Hope, Centre and village outreach program.
Project Bal Shiksha: To improve the school enrolment, PTR and retain students' attendance in school, JSPL Foundation implemented Project Shiksha which focuses on community teachers for imparting quality education, TLM and infrastructure development in schools along with parents counselling. This project was undertaken in the nine primary schools and two high school of Deojhar Gram Panchayat in Joda area of Barbil, Keonjhar District of state Odisha. The program covers more than 12000 children with improvement in the school attendance, reduction in the school drop-outs, and enrolment of students under back to school programme.
OP Jindal School Group: The O.P. Jindal Schools in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha impart education to more than 11,600 students in each academic year.The O.P. Jindal Schools, with a dedicated team of more than 440 teachers, achieved almost 100% pass out rate in all schools and nurture students' skill with various co-curricular activities. The schools also undertake special Competency Development classes for grooming students to compete for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) /National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
O P Jindal Group of Schools are primarily aiming to cater to the quality education needs of the wards of the employees of establishments at the corresponding locations and the local residents, using best possible infrastructure being provided by JSPL.
OP Jindal Institute of Power Technology (OPJIPT): OPJIPT is recognized by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power as a category-I Institute, as per provision of Sub Rule 2A of Rule 3 of Indian Electricity Rules 1956. OPJIPT is located inside the 4X250 MW Jindal Thermal Power Plant in Tamnar, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The Institute aims to produce technically trained professionals for power utilities in India and abroad and prepares students to operate or undertake maintenance of power generating stations of 100 MW and above capacity.
The objectives of JIPT are to develop skilled manpower at a global standard by imparting competency-based training, to cater the training needs for power industry, to conduct refresher trainings for experienced personnel, and to make the trainees disciplined, creative, confident and self-reliant in problem solving, leadership, and team work capabilities.
OP Jindal Global University: OP Jindal Global University has been established as a philanthropic initiative by Sri Naveen Jindal, the founding Chancellor. In its quest for shaping the human resources for social and economic transformation, JGU has been striving hard to enhance the quality in all spheres to serve as a model educational institution and centre of excellence. It is widely recognised around the world and has developed international collaboration with over 100 institutions for imparting a rigorous and multi-disciplinary education with a view of producing world-class professionals, scholars, leaders and public servants. JGU empowers its students with knowledge, skills and vision to meet the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. Sustainable Livelihood & women Empowerment: Women Empowerment and skill building programme is a flagship project of JSPL Foundation. More than 20000 women are benefitted directly and indirectly in 158 villages across all the business location through different initiatives like Eco Spa, Chaiti, Odi Fab (Jute), Phenyle, Srujan, Sugandhi, Subhangi, Aakriti, Sakshyam, Terracotta, Bamboo Craft, Pickle making, Dhokra craft, tailoring, paper conversion, rope making, Zardozi, etc. are being taken up by the women Self Help Groups for income generation activities.
Environment & Agriculture: JSPL Foundation has been implementing the integrated watershed and WADI project to encompass the farming community in our sustainable development intervention. This project has been taken forward in collaboration with the NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) an apex bank for agriculture & rural development in the country. More than 12000 farmers are benefitted through these integrated programmes.
Due to the integrated watershed Development project, Angul, which spread across the area of 1377 Ha, the community have been benefitted immensely with overall improvement in socioeconomic life. It has not only led to improvement in agricultural practices, but led to sustainable improvement in income level, reversing the migration in those areas. Skills have been developed and farmers/SHGs have been taking up several income generating activities like mushroom, leaf plate/cup making, fishery activities.
WADI Project has also impacted the lives of the tribal farmers at Tamnar. Along with the development of orchard, the farmers are doing intercropping, vermin-compost, covering 500 Acres of land. Due to WADI project the barren lands were converted to cultivable land, increase in the income of farmers, increase in reverse migration, bank linkages of all farmers, linkages with Govt. schemes like Kissan Credit Card, etc,
Sports, Art & Culture: Youth form an important part for building a nation of our dreams. Channelizing their energy towards meaningful activities is critical for the upliftment of the communities. In this regard, JSPL collaborates with various village level youth/sports clubs in organising sports and cultural events throughout the year to identify and nurture exceptional talent and foster stronger community bonding.
Regular coaching and tournaments are organised for the youths in the sports like Football, Cricket, Hockey, Kho- Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wushu, and Martial Arts etc. across all the Business locations covering more than 15000 youths from 168 villages. The youths are participating in the various tournaments at District, State, and National as well as at international level performing their best and bringing laurels for our country, for the State and particularly in the village.
Rural Infrastructure: JSPL believes that improvement in communication through building of community infrastructure helps in developing and strengthening the enabling factors for improving the quality of life of the communities. The need based infrastructure support has been provided to the community in a participatory mode as it involves high degree of community ownerships.
JSPL Foundation has created several community and public infrastructure like roads, electricity work, bridges, culverts, schools, boundary walls, school toilets, drinking water infrastructures, stadium, playgrounds, etc. in around 198 villages, benefitting more than 500000 people.
